Make Up Beginnings
I had a normal start to make up just like any other child born in the '90s. I started with the fake plastic make up and eventually graduated to the drug store make up in my middle and high school years. Now as an adult, I splurge on the high end online beauty conglomerate make up that everyone raves about. Granted I tend to stick to what actually works for my combination skin and my very fair complexion but I do like to experiment every now and then.
I enjoy binge watching YouTube channels that are all about make up and the beauty community but I detest the drama that overwhelms the social media world. I wish the world was a simpler place where it was only about the make up but instead you have those voices at the front, only about the drama. Let me step off my soap box and get on with the original story line.
As a mom of three children ranging from 8 to 3 years old, money is not in abundance but I manage to make a decent living protecting my community from convicted felons on a daily basis. How does that tie in to make up and books, well it's how I support my make up and book habit silly. I have a wonderful and supportive fiance but I refuse to let him contribute to my addiction. I have been able to tamper my splurging especially when a brand I love has a new launch but simply because I already have a horde of make up that I have yet to play with.
I try not to overindulge in my habits especially when I have dozens of kindle books and audio books that I have yet to get around to reading/listening to. I have a beautiful DIY vanity that also doubles as my crafting storage. I am an extreme arts and crafts kind of gal. I know how to sew, quilt, crochet, knit and cross stitch. I know how to scrapbook and take awesome photographs. I have dabbled in calligraphy but my hands aren't the steadiest anymore so I rarely get to try it out. I am an avid cake baker and I love to decorate cakes of all kinds. Baking of all kind is my jam. I especially love to color whether it be in coloring books or just random doodles. I have to stay busy which stems from my A.D.D. and having three young children who are constantly on the go.
I feel like I have totally let my train of thought run away from me but at least you now get more of a feel for who I am. Make up is meant to be fun, it's a form of expression and a vibrant visual of art. You put your heart and soul into the look you present on your face. There is a whole community of people who will embrace your creativity and welcome you. Unfortunately, there are also those who love to put down anyone who is trying to do anything new. The beauty community can be harsh and unwelcoming but all you have to do is trudge on, keep going, do not give up no matter what. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!
